Meet the locals
The Southern drakensberg is a stunningly beautiful area in a mountainous region of Kwazulu Natal.
We who live here are so proud of what we have to offer to tourists.
The district is known for internationally famous sporting events, a music festival, cultural history, a world heritage site, beautiful farms, heart stoppingly lovely hiking trails and a huge range of accommodation from camping to self catering to fancy hotels.
But travel is not just about tourist attractions and spectacular landscapes - it’s also about people. The people who make up the fabric of the places you visit, who help to make your memories and leave lasting impressions with you.
The purpose of this blog is to delve a little deeper under the surface of tourism and intoduce you to some of those fascinating and interesting characters who are part of the industry.
Whether they provide accommodation; tours up the pass; horse rides into Lesotho; fabulous food in the restaurants or adrenaline fuelled sporting events; they mark those services with their own personal stamps.
So sign up for my blog/newsletter and I will gradually introduce you to the people who help make the southern Drakensberg such a wonderful destination.
Very privileged to live here, our lives can be challenging because we are in the heart of the mountain, but it's So Worth It!
